Local resident loses barn to fire

Brocktown — A barn was destroyed in a fire Friday evening near Brocktown, County Sheriff John Banner said.

Firefighters were called at 5:32 p.m. Friday to 22276 County Road 34 in Lake Township.

The barn was fully engulfed when they arrived, Banner said.

No one was inside the barn when it started on fire.

All the livestock inside survived.

The cause is under investigation. The barn is owned by Thomas and Phyllis Binz.

Brocktown, Payneston, Richmond and Jenkins fire departments put out the fire. Jenkins and Brocktown police departments assisted at the scene.
